Inaugural Body Language Festival Smashes Expectations
Taking over downtown Tempe was the first year, Body Language Festival
First-year festivals always come with a little uncertainty but when left up to the team at Relentless Beats and RBDeep you know there is actually very little to worry about! That was especially true for the inaugural Body Language Festival on March 4-6. With a last minute venue change to downtown Tempe, taking over the intersection of 5th and Maple and Sunbar, the festival, if you ask us was a total success! Having everything, a large scale festival would, three stages, a VIP area, vendors, art installations but with the feel of a night out at a warehouse party. A lot of festivals with three stages would have you walking across fields to get from stage to stage but Relentless Beats crafted a great, intimate festival with stages tucked in between buildings to stop the sound from bleeding to other stages! Also utilizing the venue inside Sunbar to host artists throughout the day and hosting the after parties inside after the festival concluded each night!
This was the first year for the festival as I mentioned earlier, but it was not a first year festival line-up! Boasting some of the hardest hitters in the house and underground scenes such as legends, Carl Cox, Boris Brejcha, Adam Beyer, and Kaskade (Redux). But also, some of the newer artists in the scene such as Malaa, Wax Motif, and Shiba San! We don’t want to play favorites here but never miss the chance to catch a Malaa aftershow because you don’t know who might show up! We were lucky enough to catch a surprise Malaa b2b with Wax Motif and it has to be one of our favorite moments of the weekend! Saturday we enjoyed legends Adam Beyer and Carl Cox with Cox playing an amazing 2-hour set! Even after a few decades in the industry Cox still has a way to capture and hold an audience and it was such a joy to be able to experience that live! We made it to Sunday and were feeling a little tired…It didn’t take long to wake up as we caught one of my favorite local DJs ELWER. We first saw him at the silent disco at Decadence AZ and since then have been following him and catching every set we can! We closed out the night with the always-amazing Boris Brejcha! Dawning his famous mask and dishing out his “high-tech minimal” beats Brejcha was the ultimate close to an amazing inaugural festival!
We are hoping for a second installment of Body Language Festival in 2023 as the first year of this festival was great! We also can’t wait for the rest of the events being put on by the team over at Relentless Beats because we know it is going to be an amazing event!
